I won’t call this the main review, but I wanted to bring this particular issue out as it happened. Generally, for equipment, I won’t do a review until I’ve abused it a little. 🙂
So about a week ago, I picked up a LavaTube as a celebratory gift (I got myself a job – and it was exactly what I was looking for – after having been out of work for a few months) and was tickled beyond words. I have been wanting something like this for a while now, but it has been out of the budget. I settled on the LavaTube as my first one, and went down to a local Volcano store to pick up my new friend and bring it home.
All was good. On the way home – the store is about 40 minutes from home – the vapor and the throat hit began to weaken. I didn’t think much of it. The cartomizer I was using was about to give up the ghost, and being the most wrong time possible, I figured it was going right then and there.
I make it home and change the cartomizer. It didn’t improve. So I checked the status of the battery and realized it was a bit low on the charge, even though it was brand new. OK, well, whatever. I took the battery out and got out the second battery I had purchased and began charging them both.
The next morning I put the freshly charged battery in, the LavaTube blinked to let me know it had accepted the battery… and then didn’t do much of anything. I tried everything. I hit the button five times to turn it on… Nothing. Did it again, just in case… still nothing. The screen wouldn’t display at all and there was nothing happening when I tried to take a pull off of it. So I switched the battery and had the same result.
Well, now I was livid. Here it was, my first day at a new job, and I was not going to be able to do anything about this tube until the weekend. So there it sat, all week long, taunting me.
Today was the day. I went back out to the shop to let them know the thing had crapped out and died on me.
No problem. It has a warranty.
Now… this is new to me. Not much in the e-cig world seems to come with a warranty, or at least none I’ve had a dealer actually honor. I don’t see much around the web about warranties, either. So when he took the old LavaTube away and pulled out a new one, then wished me a good day, I was floored.
Here I sit, happy as a clam and vaping away on a new – and properly working! – LavaTube. I just wanted to share this information with you all because, to me, this is a good sign. It is about time someone in the e-cig world stands behind their product. And while I haven’t been using it long enough to do a proper review, I figured a first impression was warranted, especially with such a big issue as was originally had.
+1 for Volcano, and +1 for the Puffing Monkey (Volcano of Raleigh) for good customer service and good customer relations.
